GSM Group has officially inaugurated its latest logistics hub in Dar es Salaam, marking a significant milestone in the company's East African expansion strategy. The new 50,000 square foot facility is located at the heart of the city's industrial zone, providing optimal access to major transport arteries and the port.

The state-of-the-art hub features automated sorting systems capable of processing over 5,000 parcels per hour, temperature-controlled storage zones for perishable goods, and a dedicated customs clearance area that will expedite the movement of goods across borders.

"This hub represents our commitment to building world-class logistics infrastructure in Africa," said GSM Group CEO during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. "It will serve as the central distribution point for our operations across Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and beyond."

The facility also incorporates green building standards, including solar panels that meet 40% of the energy needs, rainwater harvesting systems, and energy-efficient LED lighting throughout. These features align with GSM Group's sustainability goals as outlined in the company's 2030 environmental roadmap.

The hub will create approximately 200 direct jobs and is expected to handle a throughput of 120,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) annually once operating at full capacity. Construction of a second phase, which will add another 30,000 square feet of warehousing, is already planned for 2027.

Local government officials praised the investment, noting it would strengthen Tanzania's position as a regional logistics gateway and contribute significantly to trade facilitation across the East African Community.
